Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce our WSJ Trust Fellowship program participants following a strong response from the newsroom to this internal opportunity. Given the strength of the applications, we are awarding  two fellowships this fall, and continue with an additional fellow in the spring.

Congratulations to Joshua Jamerson and Emil Lendof, who will be our fall participants. Josh, a national politics reporter in Washington, will work closely with Philana Patterson on the Standards team, focusing on diversity in our coverage and sourcing. Emil, a photo editor for the Markets team, will partner closely with Barbara Chai on the Culture, Training & Outreach team. He’ll help create training and resources for spreading visual literacy in the newsroom and strengthening visually diverse coverage.

The program will continue with Laura Casey in the spring. Laura, a research editor of WSJ. Magazine, has expressed interest in developing training and other resources focused on coverage that involves people with disabilities.

We couldn’t be more excited for the learning exchanges that lie ahead with Josh, Emil and Laura. When the WSJ Trust Fellowship was launched in 2019, we set out to encourage and create a culture of learning through the lens of our coverage mission and diversity. We also set out to provide colleagues with more exposure to newsroom leadership, a chance to participate in decision-making conversations, and opportunities to consider the next steps in their careers at the Journal.

Please join us in congratulating Josh, Emil and Laura and supporting them throughout their fellowship experiences in the months ahead.

All the best,

Brent & Emma
